Variable may refer to:
- Variable (mathematics) A variable is a symbol that stands for a value that may vary; the term usually occurs in opposition to constant, which is a symbol for a non-varying value, i.e. completely fixed or fixed in the context of use. The concepts of constants and variables are fundamental to all modern mathematics, science, engineering, and computer programming, a letter that represents a value in an algebraic expression.
- Variable (programming) In computer programming, a variable is a facility for storing data. The current value of the variable is the data actually stored in the variable. Depending on the programming language in question, the data stored in the variable can be intentionally altered during the program run, thus causing its value to change, or vary, hence the name.
